DJ’s Spotlight: Fabø

Beatrising is very proud to show some light on the Brazilian DJ Fabø. Tight percussion and solid grooves move his listener’s feet, while intriguig vocals find homes in their hearts. Fabø is a true believer in the creative process, both as an individual and as part of his production crew Rolldabeetz. His relationship with his instruments is not man and machine, but simply one frequency to another. This work ethic has made him an ambassador of Brazil’s House and Techno scene. His residency at Vibe Club in Curitiba and Warung Beach Club in Itajaí, recognized by DJ.

Thanks a lot for having me! How did you get your start musically speaking?
Hello, I’ve decided to be surrounded by the music around 12 years ago. I listened to the music on the radio and I always been curious in how these synthetic noises were produced, and also I always did kind of with the machines. I thought this was like half of the battle done (just in the begin of course, haha). Then I started to study more and I discovered about the DJ culture, and also the producers, and composers and a few of studios stuff mix/gear/synthesis/acoustic, and this infinity of stuff that is impossible to know everything about, but I am always hungry about this subject.

Where has your inspiration been coming from?
I normally spent some time with my own head and when I am doing another stuff (like reading, driving, watching a movie) I believe that automatically I create new ideas which I can adapt for music.

How do you handle Spotify and the new world of playlists? Are you pro or contra?
In the beginning, I was a little confused about it, now I like it.

Times ago you have set the label Playperview up, that is having a lot of audiences in Brazil. Which is its main music mission?
Its main mission still being to release what we like, I mean Pako Henrique and myself.
If we like it we release it. We created this label in this way. It’s not like a label directed for one genre only.

In 2006 you started with Soundman Pako the Rolldabeetz project, it aims to make good music without worrying about the target. What was this free playing like?
Yes, in the beginning, we played some genres mixed like techno, Drum & Bass, Breaks etc, but after a while, we changed it and we decided to play more House and Techno. It was funny when we played some genres mixed because we had to be creative to keep the feeling of the set and changing the genres of the music.

Tell me how 2017 has been so far for Fabø? Planning on any more productions? Any more Dj-ing?
2017 was kinda weird for me. It was not so productive, but I’ve done a lot of new songs with Pako, Aninha, and HNQO. 2018 will be cool.

So what’s got you stoked for the near future?
New tracks are coming in 2018!
