Sony has become the first major label legalized for remixing, thanks to Dubset

The legal grey area of music, such as remixes and DJ sets that are now unofficially on SoundCloud, soon might land in the hands of Spotify and Apple Music. This is due to a deal with rights clearance start-up Dubset, making Sony Music Entertainment the first major record label to allow its music to be monetized through unofficial mixes.
Dubset will index Sony’s master recordings, meaning rights holders will be compensated any time even just a minuscule, one-second of their song gets used in a DJ set or remix.
