Spotify rises penalties against artificial streams

Penalties for paid, artificial streams escalated by Spotify

Spotify is accelerating its mission to keep fraud streams away from the platform. The platform has decided to punish labels, artists, and managers that bribe companies to raise the streaming numbers artificially.

Spotify elaborated on this policy through a video wherein they explained the efforts taken to bring the policy into action and alternatives to create an audience without disobeying the norms.

Spotify in the latest “Game Plan Video” states

  • What exactly a bot is?
  • What is artificial streaming?
  • How purchasing streams can harm your career and can stop you from creating genuine interactions with real fans?

The video also states what to check for and what steps will be taken by Spotify to fight these problems.

3rd party promotional services giving acceleration in your streams may seem to be tempting but they may be creating them with the help of bots which is a major threat.

After we trace artificial streams, we may take actions like refusing royalties and rectify the streaming numbers & chart positions. Also, it can lead to the elimination of your music from Spotify.

In case the artists and their respective teams need yet another warning against not paying companies to artificially increase their streaming count, Spotify will provide it.

In the latest video release by Spotify for Artist team states the possible punishments.

Spotify says that – We have a huge team of researchers and engineers working to detect, mitigate, and eliminate artificial streaming processes over Spotify so that we can safeguard artists and their genuine streams.

Once we identify artificial streams, we may even remove your music from Spotify. 3rd party services may tempt you to increase your streams but they can be a major threat.
