Snapchat Spotlight trying to become TikTok by giving monetary compensation to the users
Recently, Snapchat revealed their new feature – ‘Spotlight’ is looking forward to fit-in brief music-based clips. The users who build the most trending Spotlight posts would be paid for their hard work.
This new feature- Spotlight was launched in 11 countries by Snapchat which includes the USA and Canada to include music-based videos that are a common feature on TikTok.
Most Snapchat users are used to post short videos, they were demoted to their network of friends on this app. The importance of Spotlight currently is that it helps the users to target more people through their posts while remaining connected to Snapchat.
Well, any user on Snapchat can easily use Spotlight and the video posted will reach the friends they have on their list. Also, reach is calculated by a rule that determines the network of people it would be shared with. Just like any other platform, the rule considers the information regarding the duration for which people will engage in the video and whether they will further share it with their friends.
Promotion
Well, launching a new feature may not be interesting to non-Snapchat users or occasional users but the thought of winning money is certainly going to be exciting.
That is the reason the platform is ready to pay a whopping amount of $1 million/ day to the users who build popular Spotlight posts.
The contestants need to be 16 years old and the post should contain a specific number of original video views which is competitive enough to be compared to other posts on that day.
Also, Spotlight won’t allow people to comment publicly on Spotlight posts but would allow users above 18 years of age for direct replies from public profiles.
